My
opinion on the matter of genetically modified food is that it should
not be supported by the U.S. It can cause health issues, it produces
chemicals, and people dislike its qualities. With all of the issues
caused by genetically modified food, the logical action for the U.S. to
take is to prohibit the biotechnology of genetically modified food.
Genetically modified food has caused health issues in the past, one of
which is allergic reactions. DNA extracted from plants with common food
allergens and put into other foods to enhance its quality, but it can
cause allergic reactions to those that have allergies to the plant that
had its DNA moved. People can also get sick because the drugs and
chemicals scientists put in food to enhance the crop can have negative
effects on a person’s health.
Scientists put genes in the plant that causes self-producing
pesticides. The possible consequences of this are that the “pesticides”
can also have negative effects on nearby people’s health as well.
Livestock can be affected as well by this. The “pesticides” could infect
nearby bodies of water and make those who consume the water sick.
People around the world have protested already to ban genetically
modified food. Vegetarians/vegans are aggravated that there are genes
and cells from animals in vegetables. Europeans have argued that there
are unnamed ingredients. People in India have burned G.M.F. as a
protest. Philippines have sent reports of health problems caused by the
“pesticides”
And there you have it, three reasons to ban G.M.F. I hope you have been persuaded by this essay, and have a good day!!!!
GMOs
Did you know that your food could be genetically modified? Well, most of it probably is. Most crops grown in the U.S. are genetically modified, meaning that scientists extract the DNA of something else and put it into the crop that you buy. Crops are genetically modified to make them healthier, tastier, easier to grow, or able to resist harmful insects or diseases. The development of genetically modified food should be supported.
One reason it should be supported is that the United Nations expect the world’s population to grow from 6 billion to 9 billion by the year 2050. We could use biotechnology to support a growing population. It could also help feed the 800 million undernourished people in the world. It can help because scientists can genetically engineer the crops so they will produce food quicker and repel insects and diseases.
If GMF is not supported, consumers may notice a difference in their food. Since scientists are able to modify food to make it healthier, consumers may notice that they aren’t getting as many vitamins. Consumers may also notice a difference in taste. This would be because scientists are able to make food tastier.
Lastly, GMF is believed to be safe by the FDA.They are professionals, so we should trust them, even if the consequences are unknown.
These are reasons genetically modified food should be supported.
