Have you ever read a book and watched a movie and thought they were nothing alike? The Hunger Games book and movie is not like that. While some differences between the book and movie are evident, the similarities are striking.
To begin, the contrasts between the book and movie are somewhat insignificant. In other words, small changes were made, but they did not affect the plot. For example, Katniss's friend Madge who gives her the Mockingjay pin, is not in the movie. However, this omission did not affect the flow of the movie.
Aside from these unimportant differences, the similarities between the book and movie enhance the Hunger Games experience. More specifically, the movie captures the appearances and accurately portrays all of the main characters. For instance, the book says that most of the Seam families resemble each other, with black hair, olive skin, and gray eyes. The movie mirrors this description closely, especially with Katniss and Gale.
Another similarity between the book and the movie is that the movie stays genuine to the plot. By this I mean that the movie brings the book to life in a clear and vivid way. For example, all of the settings, from District 12 to the arena, seem to have come straight out of the book.
To sum it up, the Hunger Games movie does a great job bringing the book to life on the big screen, apart from a couple  inconsequential modifications. The movie depicts the appearances and personalities of the characters perfectly. For all the reasons above this movie will not disappoint any fan of the Hunger Games.
