Crack! This is the noise illustrated when the beloved character Dobby apparates, although we have never seen Kreacher apparate we can imagine it would sound the same. These two characters are from the book Harry Potter. Despite bearing some minor similarities the difference between Dobby and Kreacher are clear.             Although Dobby and Kreacher have many differences they share some significant similarities as well. For example, Dobby and Kreacher are both male house elves with bulging eyes and grey skin. They both work for death eaters. These death eaters neglected them because they considered them slaves. To explain the purpose of a house elf is to serve their masters and do the day-to-day chores. 

            Also, Dobby is very different from Kreacher in the sense that Dobby is loyal to Harry Potter. For example, Dobby gives his life to rescue Harry and the others from Malfoy (his past employer) manor in the seventh book. Dobby is loyal to Harry because he believes he can defeat Voldemort and also because Harry freed him. Dobby has good morals and never does anything to harm anyone.  

            In addition, Kreacher is very different from Dobby. Despite their death eater status, Kreacher remains loyal to the questionable Black family. Kreacher lives in the end, but was never freed. Kreacher has bad morals. For example, Kreacher gave away Harrys whereabouts to the death eaters, which could have ended badly. 

            In brief, despite Kreacher’s and Dobby’s similarities, there differences are still more pronounced therefore should receive further investigation because of their contributions to the novel Harry Potter.

Have you read any Harry Potter books? If so, have your read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? If you have, you should know a pretty good amount about Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley, the main girl characters. While some similarities between Hermione and Ginny are evident, the differences between the two are striking.


Ginny Weasley and Hermione Granger have only a few things in common. For example, Hermione and Ginny are both in Gryffindor House. By this I mean, that there are four houses. Hufflepuff (for the kind people), Ravenclaw (for the smart and witty people), Slytherin (for the sneaky and bad), and Gryffindor (for the brave and caring). So, Hermione and Ginny were both placed in this house, which is one of the two things they have in common. Next, Hermione and Ginny are both heroic. For example, Ginny wanted to fight at the Battle of Hogwarts, but her mom wouldn't let her, but she didn't listen, and she fought (saving people's lives in the process). Hermione, on the other hand, was heroic also. When she, Harry and Ron went on a quest to find Horucruxes, they were all starving and grumpy at one point, so Ron (Hermione's crush) left them alone. When Ron asked if Hermione was leaving, she said no and stayed to help Harry get horucruxes.


Although they have those few things in common, Ginny is nothing like Hermione. For instance, Ginny is daring. By this I mean, she is not afraid of anyone, and she goes on very dangerous adventures, but is willing to do it if it will help fight Voldemort. She is known as very fiesty, and will jinx anyone at Hogwarts who is being mean to her or her family. Also, she dates a bunch of people. I don't know what that would be called, but she dates so many people. For example, she has dated Dean Thomas, Michael Corner, and of course, Harry Potter. I think she just rushes into relationships with boys she probably never liked, except for Harry Potter who she has definetly liked. Lastly, in general, she likes Harry Potter throughout this book.  She has dated him, broke up with him, and dated him again. During her first years of Hogwarts she loved Harry, but was to shy to talk to him. This is how Ginny is different than Hermione.


Hermione is very different from Ginny. For example, when I said Ginny was daring, Hermione is almost the exact opposite. She is just as heroic, but she is very cautious when she knows something is very dangerous. For example, when Harry and Hermione were on the quest for Horucruxes, they were going to visit Godric's Hollow, but Hermione really had to think about the decision first, and when they did decide to go, she was very cautious. Next, Hermione is like a genius. She is very smart. By this I mean, she gets all A's, she does her homework on time for every class (no matter how much homework there is) she aces every test she takes, and she impresses almost every teacher (with the exception of Dolores Umbridge). Lastly, when I said that Ginny likes Harry, well, Hermione likes Ron. Ever since their first year at Hogwarts, Hermione has liked Ron, and been through almost everything with him. Especially in this book, she cries for days when he leaves her and Harry on the quest, and she saves him earlier on in the book when he is splinched (long story). The point is, she has loved him, and will do almost anything for him.


In conclusion, I hope I have given you a few good reasons on how they are similar, and even better reasons on how they are different. Harry Potter is a topic I just know a lot about (I know more about Harry Potter than I know about Science), and I have realized how different some characters are. Like Hermione and Ginny. Even if you are not as big of Potterhead as I am, even if you don't like Harry Potter at all, I hope you have a little background on Harry Potter now, and I hope you have a clear image of how Hermione is different from Ginny.
